Silba Sound Map

In September 2019 I was invited by SEA - Silba Environment Art, to harvest sonic morphologies of this magical island situated in the North Adriatic.

Silba island has an area of 15 square kilometers, shaped as number 8, with the village of Silba located at the narrowest point in the middle. There are no cars, only tractors & popular hand-pulled "karić" wheels. Famous 50 years old boat Lastovo stops in Silba every day during the summer season. The population varies from approx 200 year-round, to significantly more during the tourist season.

Tiny but with huge bio and geodiversity, Silba has many natural secrets as well as stunning remote places, but as with everything else in the shallow Adriatic, the impact of human activities is visible.

This is my first re-imagining of the sonic island of Silba & soundscape decomposition derived from Silba Soundmap (that I launched earlier this year, hopefully, to grow year after year with new contributions by other artists & sound enthusiasts!)
